915 People in N. Jakarta Attacked by Dengue Fever

The circulation of dengue fever in the capital is still relatively high. In North Jakarta, in early September, as many as 915 people have been infected by the virus.

The peak of dengue fever case is usually in February, March, and April. That's why, we will optimize the PSN by checking mosquito larvae routinely and fogging

Based on latest data of North Jakarta Health Sub-Department, those 915 patients consist of 247 people in Tanjung Priok Sub-District, 161 people in Penjaringan Sub-District, 160 people in Cilincing Sub-District, 151 people in Kelapa Gading Sub-District, 126 people in Koja Sub-District, and 70 people in Pademanagan Sub-District. One of them is Indah (10), a citizen of RT 13/03, Tuguselatan Urban Village, dead after suffering dengue fever at Koja General Hospital. The case is currently being investigated by the epidemic investigation (PE).

According to Bambang Suheri, North Jakarta Health Sub-Department, last year, the number of dengue fever patients was 1,433 people and 3 others died. Then until this September, only 1 died due to dengue fever virus.

Duren Sawit Sub-District Highly Prone to Dengue Fever

"We got a report yesterday, where the victim (Indah) died at Koja Hospital. The case itself has been handed over to  the epidemic investigation with a radius of 200 meters from victim's house," he expressed, Wednesday (9/10).

Based on Koja Hospital information, the victim was died after she suffered dengue fever. Initially, she was suffering from high fever and then taken for treatment to nearest the community health center. After being taken home by her parents, 5 days later, she once again suffered high fever.

"Perhaps, the parents thought the disease was not dangerous, thus they brought her back to home. But 5 days later, she suffered the same disease and immediately rushed to Koja Hospital. Unluckily, she was died before getting intensive treatment," he told.

Suheri continued what happens to Indah is a lesson for the people to be vigilant against high fever. This is because it could be a symptom of dengue fever. Usually, its symptoms can reach a critical phase on 4th,5th, and 6th days. While on 1st, 2nd and 3rd days, the victim's condition is not too worried.

To anticipate dengue fever, his party keeps intensively eradicating the mosquito breeding in the environment. Moreover, ahead of the end of this year, is the most crucial time in conducting the anti-mosquito campaign (PSN).
